Am I ready for Diesel?????

OK, I FINALLY drove MY rebuilt (almost done and will be almost done for the next 15 years) '54C1PW down the road to feel proud. Yes, I got 1 -1/2 mile from home and ran out of gas, but I felt bitchin' driving to the big ol' local market etc., etc., etc. Now the main point. Going back UP the HWY 105 to home. The PW was pushin' hard in 3rd gear going 30 and then pullin' over to let traffc by. Then startin' again. What would a diesel do in this circumstance? Would it get me up that hwy at a regular speed??? THX in advance.
