Oil Pan Gasket Question

Installing on a 251. I've looked over the archives but still not clear. Do the thicker 1/2 moon gaskets that run long and stick past the pan edge get folded over or under the long thin side gaskets? Or do they get compressed straight down when installing the pan? Basically I'm trying to figure out how those end gaskets interact with the side gaskets and engine block? I know I'll need some sealer at that joint. Thanks in advance!
