That’s the deciding factor for me. If it can’t be installed without that Mickey Mouse conversion that looks like it was designed in a grade 11 auto class...I’m out.
I think a diesel is a great choice for a PW just that there’s certain things that just shouldn’t be messed with.
The dash & interior are probably #1 on my list but unless someone fabricated proper pedal mounting that looks like it was installed by Dodge, it’s not an option in my trucks. It would be like installing an electric motor & filling the bed with batteries...just not an option for me.
The other thing is that from the trucks I’ve seen, they don’t sell for more money modified. Well yes & no. The ones selling for big bucks are the ones that have had $150k spent on them.
I haven’t seen any single cab trucks with 4bt’s selling over $60ish outside of Barrett Jackson & let’s be honest...that is a very poor indicator of what vehicles will sell for. Several stock restored trucks have sold over $50k & so I think it’s important to build it the way you want it. My guess is the added cost of adding a 4bt...I don’t think you’d make money unless you count your time at $0/hr.
Don’t get me wrong, look at Keith in WA truck for example. Beautiful truck, highly modified & yes, if Keith sold it it would sell for lots of money. Guess what...my guess is it would cost more to duplicate than what it would sell for...so it’s important to consider all these things rather than just look at the numbers. The number one reason that truck would sell for a lot is because the body is beautiful...not the 350 under the hood.
That’s my take.
