Over the course of the last 150 yrs there has many, many people killed by exploding boilers, the most recent about 7-8 yrs ago at a fair, the fellow had driven his steam traction engine to the fair to display and a local cop had taken exception to him driving 1 -1/2 miles on the highway, while the cop had the engineer distraced arguing about something that no one really gave a shit about, the fire plate uncovered and blew the boiler, dead cop, dead engineer, and three other people died close by, and a bunch of other innocent people hurt. the power of steam is one of the most underrated engergy sources around. it is said that ruptured boiler losing steam from a hole 1 inch in [email protected] 150 lbs has enough power to lift a ten ton boiler one mile in the air. I have seen pictures of exploisons in the old days, I do not doubt the saying at all. please be careful, Dave. P.S. it still would be the coolest damn thing I have ever seen.
