I received a new Oilite bronze bushing for the front axle shaft of my ’49 Power Wagon. I pulled it out of the box and measured the inner diameter and found that it is 1.523 – 1.524”, depending on where I measure it. New parts are supposed to be 1.519 – 1.521”. My first instinct was to pack it up and send it back, but then I considered that the new part dimension is probably for installed parts which may see some shrinkage due to the press fit, and maybe the press fit into the axle housing would shrink the ID of my bushing to the right size.

I found a website with Oilite busing data at the link below, where page 6 shows charts of recommended press fits and how much the ID shrinks. I don’t know what the press fit is for the Power Wagon application, but I imagine it’s at least a couple thousandths, maybe more. Based on that, and based on the ID Close-In chart, I'm guesstimating the ID would shrink anywhere from 0.0015 – 0.0035, which would bring the ID of my bushing very close to new part tolerances, or possibly right into the correct range.

Does anyone here have any real-world experience with these bushings to back this up? In other words, does my uninstalled ID seem ok?
Thanks.
