Finally getting the carryall in good enough condition to try driving on the highway. (Not freeway, but 2 lane highways.) So, today I replaced the temp. gauge, fixed a couple other minor things and decided to take the truck on its first "Burger Patrol".

Burger patrols are where you choose a cafe/tavern somewhere then see if you can get your army truck there for a burger. Julie likes taking pix and post them online. She has a little following for this, its fun.

First we go gas up the machine then choose a close by cafe. Close by is good, I don't trust the carryall very much yet. We arrive, but they are closed! A waitress come out to the parking lot to tell us its closed and ask all about our truck. How cool is that? Anyway, off we go to choice #2. This is already the furthest we've ever taken this machine. Quite the adventure!

Get to Cafe #2 (The Crab Shack, Hwy 20) I jump out and, "Oh my back kinda' hurt there". Think nothing of it, walk around to the front and.. "Would you look at that line?" After a couple minutes I suggest hitting The Corner Restaurant. Julie thinks about how far away it is and says "Sure, lets go!"

Get in the truck.. Flooded, refuses to start. Arrgh! Both trucks do this. They get hot, the fuel pressure goes up and the fuel pushes past the float into the manifold flooding the engine. So I'm trying to get the thing to fire and Julie says. "Why don't you choke it?" I look over,

"Well, because its flooded and.." We've been married for a long time and by now I've seen quite a bit of "Girl logic" in action. I pull the choke. The engine instantly fires up. Go figure.

Off to the third Cafe choice. Truck runs well. There's a big 'ol hill to climb. It goes right up. I'm all happy. We arrive, I jump out and "Oh!" My lower back completely fails. Its all I can do to sit in the driver side spare tire well on the running board. I laterally can not move.

Luckily there's a drugstore next to the cafe. Julie buys a bottle of water and some Aleave . I take the pill, but there is no way I can drive the truck home. I call a buddy of mine to drive the truck and wait for the drugs to kick in enough to get back onboard. We limp home..

I think its the seat. I don't really fit in the machine and I sit all curled up in there. I can't feel the damage happening until its too late. Then I'm flat on my back. (Like now, actually)

What options do I have? Can the original seats be made to work better? I'd like to not put some giant aftermarket things in there. If I could get some lumbar support? Possibly I could make it work?
