wood splitter

Any thoughts on using the pto to power a hydraulic pump for a wood splitter. I have been looking at the trailered ones that are available, but I can buy the platform, ram and hydraulic control for around $800 and thought it might be nice to use the PW to run it, if it didn't exceed the cost of a complete powered unit.
