I got $1,200.00 into my splitter that is never used because the kid next door uses a axe when he does the wood. I would hate to run my truck to spit 5 cord worth. The splitters are nice but you still need a good back to lift it up on. The ground split type are nice for the big stuff but not little splits for the lady of the house. She keeps the fire going during winter. I watched a guy set up a spiral pointed splitter bolted to a PTO on a tractor. It did not take long to bend the shaft and bust the shear pin. Scared the heck out of me watching it work for a short time new out of the box! It could work for a excuse to get it if you only burn a little each year.
