OK, I had to remove the Braden MU2 winch to disassemble it for repair. A previous owner had broken off the 2 bolts that retain the shifter fork bracket, and I have to drill them out.
- Does anyone know the dimensions of the bolts?
- Are they 1/4"? They look pretty small.
- How long are they? (How deep do I need to drill?)
- Has anyone drilled and tapped for larger, stronger bolts?
- Now that the winch cable drum is off the shaft, should the sliding clutch slide off the shaft? (The other end is still in the worm gear in the case, I did not want to open up that can of worms). I wanted to get the sliding clutch off the shaft to give me more room to drill out the bolts, and it will not slide much past where it normally slides back and forth.
