the alignment of the top and bottom bearings, and whether the felt grease seal come close to working. And those never seal real well anyhow. You still got almost all of the steel it ever had, for strength.

I think I would reassemble the outer knuckle halfs with new bearings and see that it feels nice and smooth in action. Then run it.
