I believe fillers and tanks are totally coated not in zinc, but 'tinned' in solder. I think it probably has to do with static electricity? Maybe gas flowing over lead doesn't merely ground static, but prevents it forming in the first place? Or maybe it is cheaper/better to 'tin' items than to galvanize: less heat = less cost and less warpage?

hmmmm, tin parts before resistance welding the seams, and when welded, the solder melts and seals the seams?
