The good thing about air-over-hydraulic brakes vs normal truck air brakes is that if you lose air pressure you can still drive the truck.
But if you lose air you can barely stop them too, at least my old bus was that way. If you loose air brakes on a regular spring brake truck you can back off the Spring Cans and still move it. Most systems have seperate air systems for the front and rear and the front tires don't have the springs to lock them. You tend to get real nervose when you hear your Low Air Buzzer sounding going down the road! Since the air holds them off you bust a line and it can lock them up fast. Mark H.
