Didn't you change to a dual master? There should be very little freeplay, 1/32- 1/16 ?
Then I would recheck the adjustment. If you still have a soft pedal it might just be that the shoes aren't well matched to the drums, somehting that is common since they stopped arcing shoes at the brake shops. If so, you'll have to wear them in and re-adjust. But it's probably just air in your system.

P.S., once the shoes are worn to match the drums you should never adjust the bottom cam. If you do, you'll have to wear in the shoes all over again.
