How do I remove bed pockets?

Have a question concerning restoration of my bed sides for a second series PW. I am presently stripping the paint and wish to remove the 3 side pockets which are spot welded on in order to get at the rust/paint underneath. Can anyone tell me how to remove them without damaging the metal?
