I replaced main and rod bearings. Along the way I found:hoses to the oil filter had seeping holes. The oil pick-up was full of sludge. My relief valve had already been messed with and had way to heavy of a spring.
I now have 42 pounds of pressure at idle and at speed. I also threw away my old oil pump and replaced it with a new higher volume pump from VPW.
Be real careful about tanking the engine block. I understand that the cam bearing is cast into the block and if the built up crud is removed it will drop your oil pressure.
