I have a '91 Dodge Cummins. After several Getrags and the warranty was expiring, I
bought a new Dodge type NV4500 and modified bellhousing from Advanced Adapters (they no longer modify them but rather make them brand new). The Getrag bellhousing was not wide enough for the larger footprint of the NV4500 bolt pattern. The same flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, and throwout bearing are used. The input shaft was the same length; however, it was necessary to shorten the bearing retainer. Otherwise, this would hit the springs in the center of the clutch disc. Have you checked this? Are you using the original bellhousing? Is the 6-speed bellhousing deeper? I understand that it has some other differences.
Also, a local gear guy who transplanted a Cummins into a Ford bored out the flywheel to
replace the input bushing with a bearing.
