I have posted on this engine at numerous times but was informed it only produced approx. 95hp w/the turbo version producing approx. 110hp. I found a website and actually the first ones say Chrysler-nissan on the valve cover. It must have been a joint venture and they sold them to IH coupled to 727 auto torqflite trannys in the scouts ,maybe a few manuals?
Since the hp and torque is about the same as the 230, it would seem a 251 transplant would be a better way to go with more hp and torque. It is a shame though, the engine is the right size for our PWs with the smoothness of 6 cylinder running and diesel longevity. If there was just someone had built a 6-cyl.diesel that size with 150-200hp. If someone just wanted a diesel instead of a gaser and more hp wasn't a must, then this SD-33 would be a good retro-fit.
