The rear wheel bearings are packed with grease. Yes, there are inner oil seals.
You dont have to pull backing plates to replace them.
The backing plates on a WM-300 are rivited on. I pulled mine when adding disk brakes.
They are a BEAR to get the rivits out. I cut the heads off, drilled a relief hole through the rivit and drove it out with a drift. It was not a fun job.
