The local GM dealer sells a great deal of these duramax trucks, I know three of the technicians and they have seen only one truck back for any waranty work. As far as the japan deal goes the manufacturer ( can't remember how to spell the name) is the worlds biggest producer of diesel engines.
I know the power stroke is a lemon ( every rule has its excptions ) at least you have a chance with the GM.
