i have a powerstroke with 290,000 miles going strong. only item needing replacement was the starter(made in japan). the duramax is a japanese designed motor and was told it is built there and shipped to g.m..ford uses internationals 7.3 V-8. i am a school bus fleet manager and the three school buses that have the 7.3 have been trouble free--engine wise. my choice would be a cummings--they are such a clean looking engine and the new cummings inline six should knock the socks off the duramax.
