Battery cable question for the purists!

My 1951 is a 6 volt positive ground system. My question is, is the positive cable off of the battery a cable like the negative or more of a woven ground strap? Looking for what would have come off the assembly line. You guys know more than I ever will so what better place for factual information! Thanks in advance!
