We must never forget to honor all that served at Normandy and the other forgotten battles across the globe.
My father in law was a first wave landing craft driver in the Pacific. He participated in several campaigns and his home ship was hit twice by suicidal pilots. He was a quiet man who spoke little of his service with the exception of on Easter when he would say “today I was landing men at Okinawa.” He did share a little more with me in private. I do have his dress uniform.
