Carburetor rebuild

All,
Having the devil of a time removing the jet pump. As it appears to be brass I'm afraid of stripping it. Been soaking it but still no joy.
Also trying to renove the pump check retaining ring in pump well. Soaking and soaking. In addition is it wise to reuse the old plugs for the jet pump etc? I don't see them listed at VPW and none came with kit.
