Door Latch Spring

All,

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I am looking for some help on how to repair a door latch. I drilled out the weld to fix the broken spring but I am unsure how a new spring attaches. I think DCM sells the spring for repair. Also, would I just weld this back closed with the new spring in place?
