Practice, practice, practice. General rule - speed up the engine slightly while down shifting. Do not speed up the engine while up shifting.

If you get it down to a science and then get another Power-Wagon, you will find that no two are alike. Each has its own personality that requires an adjustment to your shifting techniques.

I have been double clutching Power-Wagons since 1980. For years I have not been able to drive ANY truck larger than a 1-ton and NOT double clutch the manual transmission. It has just become a natural thing that I cannot force my muscle memory to overcome.

Keep at it. You will get to the point where you will be double clutching with no grinding of gears and will not even really be aware that you are doing it.
