also - check for voltage, meaning are you running a 12v system? are you using a 12v sender and a 12v gauge or a 6v gauge with resistor? It is important that everything matches. I like to hook up the gauge and sender (and resistor if needed) on the bench first. sometimes the sender resistance value doesn't work with your gauge.
