Martie and I are in kind of the same situation, although the youngest of the two of us are 13 years older than you. She is retiring and I hope to do so within five years. Sometime between now and then, we are going to buy a brand new vehicle. It will be only the second new vehicle either one of us has ever owned.

The idea is to buy it as soon as possible to avoid as much tracking capability as possible, and avoid as much other crap as well. We feel it is only going to get worse with time. For as long as possible, we hope to use it very little and try to make it last as long as possible. Hopefully, it will be the last vehicle we ever have to buy.

While it sits all warm and snug in the garage during most of the time, we want to maintain our other two "daily drivers" as long as we can. They both have about the same mileage as yours. We are not talking restoration though. Just keep them going and put up with the nickle and dimeing as long as we can. And, this will give us a backup vehicle that we desperately need now. (The Power-Wagons are not considered daily drivers - other than doing the needed heavy work, or winter vehicles - other than plowing snow).

We finally have our house where we expect to possibly need it in our future (think handicap accessible), so now we are thinking about growing older and our projected abilities to pay for, and maintain, vehicles.

Just some things neither of us would have thought about 20 years ago.

Junior
