Gents, I'm at a crossroads with my ol' truck. I bought my one and only NEW 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 (318) when I was 23, and I'm 49 now. It has roughly 186k, and could use a lot of work- plenum gasket replacement, paint, body work, dash, 4wd lines, AC replacement, headliner, steering wheel, door plastic trim replacement, etc.
I'm not exactly lusting for a new truck, but if I did it would probably be a diesel. As of now, the truck is only driven locally, and a diesel has not been needed.
What are your opinions on whether to keep it as a work truck and purchase new, or restore the 98? I don't think I'd have an issue spending $15k to get it back to 98 standards, but will it nickle and dime me continually?
I love the old truck, and it suits my every need- the tranny and radiator was already replaced a while back. Thanks for the help and insight.
