Hi Jerry,
Funny you should post this, about an hour ago I was looking for something in my files and found the bill of sale for my first Dodge. I was 27 and wanted to get a plow truck. I didn't really care what I got, and found a 41 Dodge half ton, with a plow about 15 miles from home. I paid $350 and drove it home (1986). Half of the transfer case was on the floor, literally broken in half! I don't know how it happened but the rear driveshaft still connected to the input shaft. the front driveshaft was in the bed. I put chains on the rear and probably some weight and plowed all winter in 2 wheel drive. You could crawl underneath and see inside what was left of the transfer case and see the gears. Obviously no oil and everything exposed to the elements. In the spring, I found a transfer case in New York and replaced it. A couple of years later, I was talking to a farmer a couple of miles away and he had an old Dodge 4x4 in the woods I could have. All the time a couple of miles away was that transfer case.
I had never heard of a Power Wagon at the time and probably didn't for awhile longer.
Who knew how integral to my life they and the community that surrounds them would come to be.
