To me the secret is that someone else has made it for you.... and you are coming inside on a cold snowy day. One of those days you are working so hard you don't even realize that you don't have a coat on...but finally it catches up to you...after 3-4 hours. Then, you go inside and you can smell the coffee. You sit down - your Carhart smelling like outside smells mixed with gas and oil...maybe a little diesel or Kerosene from the tractor or salamander, and you add a little milk because there is no cream. If there is no milk you will drink it black. Either way, you pick up the cup - the ceramic warming your hands...you eventually see nothing in the bottom but a couple of lone coffee grains.
