He's definitely having fun. For what it's worth, one winter deep into the coldest part I rolled over a boulder here in SE wisconsin and to my surprise I found 3 black yellow spotted salamanders in partial hybernation. I managed to dig out a little larger space with 3 tighter tunnels and carefully rolled the boulder back over them. In the spring - I rolled the boulder back again and they were gone but I could see where they tunneled out. I did not know we had lizards in Wisconsin.
