Two Deg. shim would be about maybe, 1/16" at the
Thick end.
Usually all you need to bring a straight axle
Back to spec. or increase the the spec.
You want to use small increments.
A little caster goes a long way.
If you need POS. caster you tilt the axle back
from the KingPin center line.
Neg. Caster is tilted forward.
Too much Neg. caster makes for hard steering,
And possible Shimmy.
Pos. Caster helps return the the steering back to straight, but too much can also cause shimmy, and definitely the vehicle wants to "Dart" when steering.
A simple angle protractor set on the top, or bottom of the knuckle can measure the deg. of castor from the center line.
