You can get a reliable 150hp out of a 230…that’s about the limit. There’s no one thing that’s going to make a big difference. It’s a combination of good engine building but definitely you need to change the cam, the head you’ve done, proper balancing makes a huge difference, exhaust is important on these engines not because of a restrictive exhaust but because it’s an unbalanced exhaust. Carb, carbs…doesn’t really matter just to make more power you need more fuel. Better valve springs that allow a higher lift cam…it’s a combination of lots of things.
That said, a better cam combined with your head & some carb jetting & you’ll be over 130hp at the flywheel.
You can’t look at 110hp compared to 130hp. With a power wagon 110hp is likely about 70 at the wheels. So if you can get it to 90 at the wheels…that’s a pretty noticeable difference. Now if you did a full motor done properly…you might get 120 at the wheels…that’s almost double.
