I'd suggest a 4:56 gear ratio. That is what I am running with 38's. For a restomod with a bigger engine you will be turning a lot of RPM over 55 MPH. If you are building it for a rock crawler then maybe but for normal stuff, I wouldn't go with 4:88's. Anything over a 4:10 and you have to get a step up carrier for a gear change. Some trucks came from the factory with 4:56 so that would save you set up time and money. Most all the CUCV Chevy military trucks have 4:56 from the factory and have the better10 1/2 inch ring gear.
