Yes, indeed. Of course it was mighty cold when we were doing that too.
You could probably use a #12 wire as a slow charger while driving. If I am not mistaken, some of the newer trucks have a hot connection in the trailer plug for just that purpose.
But if you wanted to draw from the truck's charging system it probably should be #4 or #6. But I'm just a worn out carpenter, and not an electrician. :)
