Yes they do, however many other items cause rattling in the spur gear tyranny other than worn forks:
- Worn PTO bearing shafts, worn countershaft, worn input gear bearing surface, mainshaft bearing surface, worn mainshaft/gear splines, bad bearings, worn gear shift lever/pin, etc. It's your transmission, time to do a good rebuild.
See PIF, Group 28, TIPS, I, L, and M for things you need to look for and will show you worn parts. I totally rebuilt my big spur gear with all new parts and there is a link so you can hear it and know what a good transmission should sound like. Ignore my sloppy double clutch shifting that resulted in a little grinding going into 3rd :=(.
