When I first got my first Willys, the male owner wasn't home so his wife, who had barely ever rode in it, let me take it. It was in 4hi and all snow was off the raods. I couldn't figure out why it didn't want to coast. It finally got real warm to where I could smell it and then I knew something wasn't right. Things were so bound up that I couldn't get it out of 4 with the levers and I couldn't get the hubs to disengage either. Don't exactly remember how I got it out other than really grunting hard. It does cause a serious case of binding between front and rear and the tranny/xfer caseget caught in the middle. It sure went better after that.
