- You did clean the tank out real good to ensure no rust/dirt was inside?
- Inspect the line from pump to tank looking for any fuel seepage. Do this after it has run some. If no leakage, then no vacuum leak.
- Did you inspect the pick-up line in the tank to see if it has plenty of clearance between the end of the line and the tank bottom?
- If the fuel pump is old, you can try running some cleaner through as John mentioned, if that doesn't fix it, a new pump might be needed.
- Make sure the vent hole in the gas cap is clear.
- Check your fuel filter.
- Check for play in the ignition switch between housing and Bakelite terminal housing. Tighten fingers if loose.
