Why in the world would you tighten the bearings to 100 ft lbs, that's way too much, and will lead to bearing failure.

- Using the spindle nut wrench, and a rod or screw driver, spine the wheel (w/wheel mounted to hub) clockwise and turn the nut until it stops as the wheel spins. You don't need a lot of torque on the nut. Check for side play in bearing by grabbing top and bottom of wheel. If no side play, back nut off 1/6.

On the driver's rear, the bearings may look good, but if worn to much, the hub will lock against the spindle, this could be causing the problem or the fact that your using excessive torque, you could be stressing bad or fatigued parts. Make sure the brake shoes are backed off all the way.

Are you using leather seals, double or single lip seals in the hub?
