Hi guys, I haven't posted here for years but I see many familiar names still. I still have that '61 D300 farm truck I bought several years ago from the state of Washington auction. But it's accumulating quite a few issues that need to be dealt with. Tomorrow I'm going to look at a truck nearby that purports to be a '62 D300 "hay truck" that ran when parked back in the '90s. Body looks surprisingly good, appears to have a 318 in it, interior looks okay, considering. No title but I mainly want it for parts. It might be cheap. Even has a dump bed but he says "needs hydraulics" so I don't know what that means.
The odd thing to me is it's got tandem rear axles, with dualies. Seems like a lot of rubber for a 1-ton truck. Was this a factory thing? Anybody seen that before or know how it might work or what axles they might be? I think my truck has a Dana 70, but I'm not positive any more. One of the things I would want off of it would be a spring. Would they be the same? This one is half-way sunk into the ground but I'm definitely going to look and see how the drive lines are set up. Any ideas would be appreciated.
