This is about my springs on my 5th wheel trailer.
I have one axle that has lost camber on one side and I am planning on replacing it this week. When I was double checking the axle measurements, I noticed that on one end of a front spring the steel wrap that holds the spring leaves together is bent outwards and is no longer holding the spring leaves. It is about 1/4" away from the top spring on both sides. Any idea what is causing this? Is it possibly caused by axle torque during a couple tight U turns that I have made?
It is a tandem 7,000K axle setup with a MoRyde CRE3000 center shackle. It is setup as a spring over with the leading end of the front spring mounted to the frame with a pin as is the trailing end of the rear spring. All spring pins use bronze bushings. I replaced all the bushing, pins, shackles and shocks 10,000 miles ago or less. I am running G rated 16" Goodyear tires that have really stiff steel belted sidewalls and treads (no China bombs here).
