I took it to a starter rebuild shop yesterday and they checked it and said it was ok. Brought it back to home and spend rest of day making that copper connector that is attached to field coil stud. Got it all back together and didn't take apart to check brushes or armature as they had just checked it. Well after all this work, time and driving it didn't work spinning so slow it wouldn't engage bendix. I'm taking it back off this morning and take apart to check. I almost think repair shop ran it on 12 volt and not under load for a second and appeared that all was ok. Another thing to question is my truck had a 8 volt battery on it when i got it. I have run 8 volt batteries on old tractors forever with no starter damage but could this have led to a issue with my starter? Will report back tonight and thanks for help. Another thing VPW says they are out at moment but have a supply at the starter shop they use hopefully back in stock next week.
