Odd Electrical Problem

I am having a strange electrical problem and I hope someone on here can point me in the right direction. I put a radio from a 99 Ram into my 77 Power Wagon this fall. But recently I have been noticing that when I have the headlights on and come to a stoplight the radio loses power and crackles on and off and the digital clock flickers on and off. Also the DC amp meter shows more toward D. But when I step on the gas or turn off the headlamps, all is fine. Is this a sign of something going bad?
