A couple of facts should tell the story. the torque rating with the 6spd is 500 ft-lb, but only 460 with the auto. The engine is capable of putting out 6-700 ft-lbs fairly easily. I wouldn't even consider ANY sort of soup-up with the automatic. And don't believe salesment. They must get some enormous kickback for selling automatics. You wouldn't believe the stories I get trying to find a Duramax with a 6 spd to test drive.
