Fred, Several years back, after completing a rebuild on a 230 engine, my engine developed oil pressure problems. What was happening was at start up I had good pressure, but after warm up the pressure dropped down to maybe 5-10 lbs. After changing to different grades of oil, I started shimming up the oil pressure relief valve with flat washers for #10 or 12 machine screws if I remember correctly. What I got was a temporary cure. After 10-14 days oil pressure would start dropping again and I would put in more flat washers for shims. About three years ago I parked the truck (a WDX) pending another engine rebuild. During the summer of 2000, I got what turned out to be a 218 engine from a fellow National Guard member and am in the process of getting this engine back together to use in my truck. Someday later down the road after I get my truck back together I'll go back into the 230 engine and try to figure out what went wrong. Suffice it to say that from my experience that shimming the oil pressure relief valve is only a temporary cure. Don't know if this helps any, just thought that I would share it with all of you. Robert
