Its time to drop the pan and replace the bearing inserts. Mains and rods. Consider replacing the pump as well.
Shiming does not add volume. The 12-15 when hot is about the minumum. What is needed is either more volume or tighter clearances.
Run a compression test then just drive it carefully until you can do a rebuild.
DO NOT lug the engine. Keep the RPMs in the 2000-2500 range and stay light on the thottle. The engine will last quite a while.
