The comments below on the winch thread got me wondering why so many people wear gloves while handling winch cable? Personally, I never wear gloves while feeding winch cable onto a rotating drum, feeding logs into a cordwood saw blade, feeding cordwood wood onto a rotating screw splitter, or working with any other type of moving or rotating equipment.
I would rather loose a finger or slice open an artery than die, or worse - loose a hand, an arm, or otherwise be maimed for life. gloves and coat sleeves have been know to get caught in all kinds of equipment and usually take the wearer with them.
