A follow up with more info.
I replaced the bushings in the clutch cover and the fork flange was in good shape. The fork flange rotates freely and is tight in the clutch housing. I also installed a brand new clutch, pressure plate, and bearing.
I did notice some play in the bushings n the clutch pedal housing and ordered new ones today, not sure if slight play in those would cause/contribute to the problem?
I will check placing the trans in gear, then depressing the clutch to see if I can freely turn the yoke when I get home from work this evening.
Still seems odd to me the linkage would be so tight between the rear mount and the fork rod, but then again, there's a lot stuffed in a tight space there.
