I found a prybar at a local tool crib that tapers from 1/2" to 1&1/2" over about a 3' length, actually it goes the full 7' but squares off. I plan on flattening the narrow end (at the largest area possible and still being able to get a chain link on it fitting through the rail), drilling a hole in it and attaching a 8' cable with a removable link to the hole. I will cut the tapered steel rod at the 1 & 1/4" spot (or nearest to the I.D of the rails as possible). I may even leave about an extra foot at the end of the taper but grind it down to an even 1&1/4" rod. My thought is to pull the tapered rod through the rail with a winch after greasing up the inside of the rail, doing a "cold" pull through the rail to push out all the dings in each rail. Any remote chance this might work?
