No necessarily true. The killer is usually an fully loaded truck with the short rear axle shaft. There is not enough length in the short axle to accommodate axle twist. A centered differential housing is much less likely to break an axle due to the short axle not being there and the fact that the axles are the same length helps. There use to be more vehicles with offset differentials. There are very few if any in modern trucks. There must be a reason for this.
